This 1973 Harley-Davidson Sprint SS350 by Aermacchi has been treated to a complete restoration by one of the masters in the Aermacchi world –Ron Lancaster of Lancaster Sprints.
The restoration was commissioned by a gentleman who wanted a powerful,reliable,and good-handling Giro bike. Which explains the light weight Excel Aluminum rims,the oversized 35mm Ceriani forks,and the brakes reworked by Vintage Brakes.
The wheels were done by Buchanan’s with their stainless spokes and the tires are Avons. It has been fitted with electronic ignition. As you can see,this was a no-expense-spared restoration.
Sadly,the man that dreamed of riding this SS350 passed away and did not get to enjoy it. I bought it a year and a half ago and I have done nothing to it except put a battery in it and change the oil. I have only ridden it about 200 miles- too little time for it. The gauges were replaced in the resto and i have no idea what the actual miles are so I just put 999,999 in the Ebay form.
It starts immediately and it runs well. The transmission shifts smoothly up and down through all five gears. As you can see in the photos,it is in top-notch cosmetic condition. The handling is superb- it corners on rails and is flickable yet stable- the benefits of the alloy rims and upgraded forks.
When I bought the bike I contacted Ron Lancaster and he graciously provided me with a DVD showing pictures of the restoration process for this bike. I will pass it on to the winner.
