A good friend and loyal contributor is selling off some of his project bikes. This 1967 Sears/Gilera 124 on eBay is one of them:
Owner states:
1967?? Sears Gilera 124 5v 125cc 4 stroke 5 speed This looks like a nice easy project bike. it seems to be complete except for the taillight and key. very original bike. The bike kicks over nice, and sounds right. it shifts through the gears, and the clutch works. Carb slide is not stuck, throttle works, and slide snaps back. all hand controls and rear brake pedal works as expected. None of the rust is very heavy. everything is still very solid. much of the rust will clean up nicely. Probably just needs the carb, points, and petcock cleaned and it’ll fire. i’ll work on that this week. The inside of the tank is very clean. there is a dent on the right side of the tank that has been brazed in the past. I do not know if it leaks when filled above this point, but it looks like a solid repair. There is NO TITLE for this bike. I could go and get one for an additional charge. You will be thrilled with this project. The 124 is a very fast bike. it has held many of the current land speed records for 125 production/pushrod class, amazing considering the engineering is over 40 yrs old.
