For sale on the Boston Craigslist since October. ’75? Ducati 500 GTL. Possibly,Probably the number one bike that Ducati wants to forget they made. Buy it and write the factory. They may offer you a decent price to come and collect it to keep it off the street. This model is seriously unloved. Google it.
If you’re the guy that thinks a Velocette is just too reliable,and pre-war French Singles just too easy to restore,then this poor Mexican Hairless puppy with a bad eye and tongue hanging out the side of it’s mouth is for you. Prove the experts wrong and make it pretty. Make it reliable. Make it handle. Make it perform. If you can do that,you’ll win every show you enter. Too me,that alone is enough of a gauntlet to try it,unless you have something in the queue in front of it,like that Heinkel Scooter…
Or you can take all the money you’d spend and buy a Darmah. And still win at the shows. As antique aircraft restorers will tell you,“sometimes free is too expensive”.

1972 –(probably a ’75 —ed) Ducati 500 parallel twin
All there but needs resto or Cafe completion
Motor spins (and appears to have good compression tested at 100/95psi)
Gear/Clutch engage fine
Carb slides are nice and smooth (return with a nice click)
Tank inside is VERY clean.
Electric is so so.. (ie:I dont trust it)
Would be an AWESOME winter project

I also have the 1 previous owners TITLE (copied and laminated)
Various manuals and spares included including rectifier /brand new points and carb rebuild
