This 1987 Baker Formula One is a sidecar racer that reportedly placed second at the 1989 Isle of Man TT, holds seven US national sidecar titles, and has achieved four FIM World and two AMA National land speed records. The seller purchased it five years ago and installed an electric motor for successful land speed record attempts at Bonneville as well as the Colorado and Ohio miles. The electric motor has since been removed and a race-prepared Suzuki GSXR 1000 engine and 6-speed transmission will be included along with a bodywork mold, extra wheels, and a North Carolina bill of sale. The fiberglass bodywork has been painted several times and is currently finished in Viper Competition Yellow. The seller notes that many stress cracks are visible but a 2-piece mold will be included for potential reproduction of the bodywork. A carbon fiber tail section was added for solo speed runs. A video is provided of the wind tunnel testing performed before the record attempts. Historic accomplishments include: Second overall at the 1989 Isle of Man Sidecar Races Seven US national sidecar championships (1993-1999) Four FIM world land speed records (110.3 mph) Two AMA US national land speed records (115 mph) ECTA Ohio Mile land speed record (117.8 mph) Colorado Mile land speed record (123.8 mph) Fabricated by veteran sidecar racer Tony Baker, the chassis was designed with thicker than normal steel tubing to withstand the demanding Isle of Man TT course, with its long wheelbase reportedly aiding high-speed stability and aerodynamics. A race-prepared Suzuki GSXR 1000 four is included but not installed. The engine was removed when the sidecar was purchased by the seller and has not been started since. Parts from its previous installation are included, though the seller notes that fabrication work will be required to set up the clutch, shift linkage, and cooling system.
