This 1941 Harley-Davidson Knucklehead was purchased by the seller 38 years ago in Louisville, Kentucky and customized by Harley-Davidson of Salt Lake City in 2017. The bike is now powered by a 1,200cc S&S V-twin paired with a Baker 4-speed transmission and features a custom exhaust with a Biltwell muffler, a raked frame neck with a matching springer front end, belt drive, hand-painted striping and logos, and more. This custom Knucklehead is offered with a clean Utah title showing it as a special construction vehicle in the seller’s name. The tank and fenders are finished in period black over Squadron Grey, and the factory-style pinstriping and tank logos were reportedly painted by hand. The neck of the frame has been raked 2 1/4° and a custom springer fork was created, reportedly to aid in stability while remaining visually similar to the stock setup. The front brakes were modified with dual cams, and the drums were turned to match the shoes. Chrome 16″ wire-spoke wheels wear Firestone tires. A replica Bates saddle seat is shown above along with simple instrumentation and switchgear. The 5-digit odometer shows less than 400 miles, with total mileage unknown. The S&S KN74 is a replica of the 74ci Harley Davidson Knucklehead V-twin featuring 7.5:1 compression, a Super E carburetor, and a custom 2-into-1 exhaust with a Biltwell muffler. The seller notes that the exhaust is louder than initially expected and may benefit from a different muffler. The oil tank and chain guard have been chrome plated. The transmission is an aftermarket Baker 4-speed with neutral located below first gear. Features include a short jockey shift lever and an open primary with a belt drive. The pictured shift knob was a gift to the seller and will be replaced before the sale. Additional photos of the 2017 rebuild can be seen in the gallery below.
