This 1958 BMW R50/2 was first acquired by the seller as a college student in 1975. He kept the bike through 1995 when he sold it to a friend, and subsequently purchased it back in 1999. The bike is powered by a 596cc boxer twin mated to a 4-speed transmission with shaft drive, and is fitted with a solid-state voltage regulator, updated headlight, Denfield seat, and more detailed below. This R50/2 is offered with a set of Wixom pannier bags, a Wixom faring, and a clean Colorado title in the seller’s name.

The bike is finished in black with white pinstriping, and the seller notes that a few areas of the smaller inner pinstripe have been retouched. A thumbnail-sized blemish is shown on the fuel tank, and a ding is described on the side of the headlight housing. A Denfield solo seat is fitted, and the seller notes that the rubber cover on the sprung pillion passenger seat shows some cracking.

New Metzler tires were fitted within the last 500 miles, and the bike is fitted with an updated headlight bulb, newer rubber grips, and a chrome tail rack. The seller notes that rubber and plastic parts have been periodically replaced over the life of the bike.

Per the seller, the original speedometer failed shortly after he acquired the bike in 1975, showing about 16k miles at that time. The seller fitted a new speedometer, and the bike now shows 23k miles, most of which were added by the seller.

Power is provided by a 596cc boxer twin mated to a 4-speed transmission with shaft drive. Service records are available since 1979, and the seller notes that he has performed most of the maintenance himself since 1999, including fitting new cables, wheel bearing felts, and annual oil changes. The carburetors are currently jetted for Denver’s altitude with a 35 idle jet and 110 main jet.

The factory tool roll is included but is not complete. The seller notes that the front-end lock and tool box are identically keyed, and two original keys are included.
