This 1961 BMW R60/2 is a matching numbers example that was purchased by the seller in November of 2018 from a long term owner. Power comes from a 594cc opposed twin with a 4-speed transmission and shaft drive. The seller recently replaced the fuel petcock, and work performed under previous ownership reportedly included new push-rod tubes with seals, a valve adjustment, and an oil change. 17k miles are shown, of which the seller has added approximately 300. This R60 is now offered with two service manuals, a tool kit, tire pump, various spare parts, and a clean Washington title in the seller’s name.
The bodywork, including the 4.5-gallon fuel tank and fenders, are finished in the traditional black with white pin striping. Scratches and imperfections are visible, including paint checking at the filler neck and chips on the front fender. Features include a Denfeld solo seat, period Enduro side cases, a fender mounted parcel rack, and bar end mirrors. The seller notes the lights on the side cases are not connected, and chrome turn signals have been added to the tail light housing. A replacement housing will be included.
The front end features an Earles fork and Weinmann aluminum rims. The Bridgestone Accolade tires were reportedly fitted 500 miles ago by the previous owner.
The headlight shell features a reverse sweep VDO speedometer and a period chrome headlight guard. Indicator lights for charging and neutral are below the speedometer and the correct tear drop key can be seen in the ignition switch. 17k miles are shown on the odometer.
The numbers matching air-cooled 594cc opposed twin was factory-rated at 30 horsepower and is paired with a 4-speed transmission with shaft drive. The seller recently replaced the fuel tap, and the previous owner adjusted the valves and installed pushrod tubes with new seals. The oil was changed 300 miles ago, and the front cover has been replaced with a later version, but the correct cover will be included. A battery tender is fitted, and a matching charger will accompany the sale.
The factory tool roll is present, and the seller will include two service manuals. Extra parts consist of an engine front cover, tail light housing, headlight mirrors, and aftermarket bar-end signals. The seller will provide the Washington Collector license plate for a Washington-located buyer. A cold start video is provided below.
