This 1962 Pannonia 250 TLF deLuxe and Duna sidecar are a Hungarian-built combination that is believed to have been originally sold in France and imported to the US several years ago. The bike is powered by a 246cc 2-stroke single with a 4-speed transmission, and the combination was reportedly refurbished prior to the selling dealer’s acquisition in 2018. In preparation for the sale, the seller replaced the battery, performed wiring repairs, adjusted the clutch and brakes, and added new fluids. This Pannonia is offered at no reserve with an owner’s manual, parts book, and a transferrable Georgia registration.
Finished in black with red and gold striping, the combination is believed to have been refurbished by a previous owner. The seller reports the wiring was recently redone as a previous owner had performed amateur repairs to the ignition switch, headlamp, and magneto.
The Duna sidecar was designed specifically for smaller displacement motorcycles and features an aluminum body over a tubular steel frame. Approximate weight of the sidecar is 140lbs.
The forks feature a friction steering damper, and a tapered ignition key is present. The reverse sweep speedometer reads in kilometers. 30k kilometers (~18 miles) are shown, but the true mileage is unknown.
The 246cc 2-stroke single was factory-rated at 18 horsepower and features a magneto ignition and twin exhaust ports. Power is transferred to the rear wheel through a 4-speed transmission with an enclosed chain drive. After sitting idle for several years the clutch and the brakes needed adjustment, and the bike received a new battery and fresh lubricants. An owner’s manual and factory parts book will be included, and a riding video is provided below.
