This 1982 Honda GL500 Silverwing was recently acquired by the selling dealer from the believed second owner and features a removable trunk case. Power is provided by a liquid-cooled OHV 497cc V-twin with a 5-speed transmission and shaft drive. The mufflers were recently replaced, and in preparation for sale the seller also replaced the spark plugs and changed the oil. 25k miles are currently shown ,of which the seller has added approximately 100. This Silverwing is offered by the selling dealer at no reserve with an optional trunk, the factory tool kit, an owner’s manual, and a clean Wisconsin title.
Finished in silver, the GL500 was Honda’s touring version of the popular CX500 and a lighter weight alternative to the larger GL1100 Goldwing. This example is fitted with a factory-optional trunk, and the mufflers were recently replaced with replicas of the Honda items. The battery is less than a year old, and the seller notes both the side and center stands show paint loss and corrosion.
The air-assisted forks feature a single 240mm disc brake with a dual piston caliper. Comstar wheels wear a set of tires with receipts documenting replacement within the last year.
The tail-mounted trunk is a factory option that is interchangeable with the rear seat. The seat can be seen in the gallery and will be included.
Instrumentation consists of an 85-mph speedometer and a 10k-rpm tachometer featuring an integral water temperature gauge. 25k miles are currently shown on the odometer.
The 497cc OHV liquid-cooled V-twin was factory rated at 50 horsepower and features a pair of 34mm Keihin carburetors. The 5-speed transmission is located to the right of the crankshaft and uses a driveshaft to transfer power to the rear wheel. Prior to offering the bike for sale, the seller changed the engine oil and replaced the spark plugs. A walk-around video is provided below.
