We can’t Own them All

But we sure wished we could.  When I was a kid in college,I spent hours every weekend going through the Los Angeles Times‘Classified Automobile section looking for my favorite cars and bikes.  While I had no hope of buying that $8000 Ferrari 250GTE that needed paint and valve seals,it was cool to read about it and the hundreds of other cars and bikes I would see every weekend.  I looked forward to the motorcycle section, where the Norton Commando or Atlas would show up unexpectedly.  It was a great way to build up little tidbits of knowledge, understand prices and every once in a great while,go out and buy your own part of the big dream…

Today it has become hopeless. The great ads for great motorcycles and scooters are everywhere.  I have my favorite mashup sites, but often at the other end of the link is the typical Flagged for Deletion,or Expired notice.  Although I’m not that much into cars like I used to be,I found BaT,or BringaTrailer.com,that is dedicated to showing and archiving great advertisements for automobiles from all over the world that meet their criteria.  Funny thing is,they have similar tastes to mine, but bikes are my cup of tea,and they had very few ads for that.

This site is dedicated to showing great advertisements of great vintage motorcycles and scooters.

Have fun here.  Let’s keep it interesting, interactive and inclusive.  It’s not just about the great old Britbikes or BMW /2s.  I’ll endeavor to keep the Guzzi content to a proportionate amount, and look forward to some interesting American Iron as well.  We hope to swap out the title graphic every once in awhile,so don’t be surprised if we find your picture up there if it’s a really good one!

A couple of Rules

No foul language, politics or hate speech.  Pictures that are submitted should be free of copyright restrictions, and we get to use them as we please if they are submitted by the actual poster, although they retain rights to do anything they want as well.  We want to make enough money on this site to keep it self sufficient and cover our time,so there will be some advertising here in the future.  Please click on an ad every once in awhile so we can keep it going.

If you’re selling something and advertise here,be honest.  Remember,if something on this site is fishy,it will get called out by the readers in comments and, like all things on the internet,it is “forever”.  If you’ve made an honest mistake, contact us and we’ll help make it right.

Things change, and so will our rules.  We will make changes to the rules without prior notice if we have to,but we’ll try to give fair warning…
